Step 1: Install htpasswd Tool

sudo apt-get install apache2-utils # For Ubuntu/Debian

Step 2: Create a Password File

htpasswd -c /path/to/nginx/passwd username

Step 3: Configure Nginx

   listen 80;

   location / {
       auth_basic "Restricted Access"; # Message shown in the login prompt
